In Newhaven Fort is this plaque with the text:
THE QUEENS OWN CAMERON HIGHLANDERS OF CANADA
ERECTED IN RECOGNITION OF MEMBERS OF THE REGIMENT WHO PERFORMED COASTAL DEFENCE DUTIES BETWEEN SEAFORD AND PEACEHAVEN FROM JULY 1941 UNTIL MAY 1942.
FROM THIS PORT THE REGIMENT EMBARKED ON 18 AUGUST 1942 ON OPERATION JUBILEE. LANDING SUCCESFULLY AT POURVILLE, FRANCE. THE NEXT DAY THEY RETURNED HAVING ENDURED HEAVY CASUALTIES. THE REGIMENT AGAIN DEPARTED NEWHAVEN FOR NORMANDY ON 6 JULY 1944, WHERE IT ACHIEVED DISTINCTION AS A UNIT OF THE INVASION FORCE.
