Memorial Garden & Filthy Thirteen Memorial

The memorial (established on 6 June 2008) is dedicated to the Filthy Thirteen. Filthy Thirteen was a part of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. It belonged to the elite of this section and was trained for complex tasks.
During the night of 5 and June 6, 1944, they were dropped by an aircraft from the 440th Troop Carrier Group. They had been assigned to destroy the bridge over the Douve. During this mission the most part of this unit died.

The location has now become more than one monument, rather compare it to a memorial garden. The memorial garden includes:

Memorial tree from 2009
Pedestal with their commemorative plaque
Memorial Plaque Jack Womer 2013
Information board about their deployment on D-Day
Statue 101st Eagle
Statue paratrooper with their iconic mohawk and makeup
