Track 17 at the Grunewald station was one of the three stations where a total of 55,000 Berlin Jews were deported. Most of the transports were to Theresienstadt, that functioned as a way station, or directly to the extermination camps.
On the platform 183 steel plates are placed, one for each deportation train with Jews which left this station. Each plate shows the date, destination, and number of deportees. The last deportation train departed from this platform on 27 March 1945.
