In 1933, the Evangelical Church in Aachen was taken over by the movement of the "Deutsche Christen", which was pro-Nazis. The members of the other Evangelische church, the "Confessing Church", who reacted against the National Socialists, were frequently persecuted. Then from 1941 allmost all clergy of the "Confessing Church" were arrested, the community abolished itself.
The plaque is part of the project "Wege Gegen Das Vergessen" (Ways Against Forgetting).
