During the euthanasia-programme 'Aktion T4' throughout Germany a number of identical grey buses were used to transport people from their institution to one of the six places where they were gassed. In this way more than 70,000 people were brought to their death.
The memorial (Denkmal der Grauen Busse) consists of two concrete buses, of equal size as the original buses. On the buses is an inscription of the question of one of the patients: "Wohin bringt Ihr uns (Where do you take us to)?".
One of the two concrete buses is situated on a fixed place at the former sanatorium Weißenau near Ravensburg, from where 619 people have been transported. The second bus is situated at different places in the country, there is no schedule when the bus is set down in another place. This may be after a few months but also after some years, depending on the proceeds of donations.
The pictures are taken in Berlin, where the bus stood in 2008. Since 24 June 2010, the memorial is located in Pirna, for the duration of a year.
