Crash Location C-47 42-100896

On 18 september 1944 C-47 42-100896 was hit by FLAK from the Grebbeberg and got fire. The aircraft was on it’s way to drop zone Y with 19 paratroopers of C Company, 11 Battalion. It crashed between the Rijnsteeg and the Slagsteeg near Wageningen. 13 of those on board bailed out in time. Of the crew members died: Co-pilot 2 Lt. T.C. Harvey, Wireless Operator S/Sgt. C.V. Parson and Crew Chief T/Sgt. M. L. Harold. The following paratroopers perished: Sgt. Housham, Cpl. Knowless and Privates Barlow, Bell, Borland, James, Morris en Page.

There’s no memorial at the crash site.
