Lancaster Memorial Kerkrade

The Lancaster Memorial in Bleijerheide, Municipal Kerkrade, is in memory to the seven crew members of the Australian bomber which crashed on 29 december 29 1943 near the Monastery of the Franciscan Brothers in Kerkrade.

Six out of seven crew members lost their lives:

Flight Sergeant Maxwell Hope Squires
Pilot Officer Edward Ambrose Blight
Pilot Officer Stanley James Ireland
Sergeant Cyril Seddon
Sergeant Reginald James Poulter
Sergeant Albert William Henry Squire

Flight Sergeant Frank John Seery was the only survivor (passed away 2004).
