War Memorial Couvin

1920 monument, sculptures by Leon Colin and Gustave Pletain, architect Jos Van Hamme ..

On top of the column is a soldier in military uniform with a long cloak, helmet, bones, sword.
He holds a flag in his left hand, he is victorious.
This is in stark contrast to the image below where we see a suffering or dead soldier, of which lower body and head are covered with a sheet.

In front:
"The city of Couvin
To his heroes
To his martyrs
1914-1918 "

At the back:
"Soldiers (7 names)
Executed civilians "(4 names)

After WWII, 2 plates were added on the base of the monument.

1940 - 1945

1940 - 1945
