War Memorial La Chapelle-en-Juger

This war memorial has been erected in memory of the people of La Chapelle-en-Juger who died during the First and Second World War and the war in Algeria (1954-1962).

There is also a stone with the civilian's names who died during the fightings in July 1944 and a plaque with this text:
IN MEMORIAM
PERCEE AMERICAINE
SUR NOTRE SOL
25 JUILLET 1944

Translation of the text:
IN MEMORY
AMERICAN BREAKTROUGH
ON OUR LAND
25 JULY 1944

This battle was part of Operation Cobra, the breakthrough of the bridgehead.
