Stumbling Stones Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 21

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Karl Nussbaum (born 1893, murdered in Auschwitz in 1944)
Franziska Nussbaum (born 1893, murdered in Auschwitz in 1944)
Erwin Nussbaum (born 1920, murdered in Auschwitz in 1944)
Hermann Michelson (born 1858, murdered in Auschwitz in 1943)
Simon Spier (born 1861, murdered in Maly Trostinec in 1942)
Rosa Spier (born 1866, murdered in Theresienstadt in 1942)
Hermann Harf (born 1884, murdered in Lodz)
Selma Harf (born 1891, murdered in Lodz)
Siegfried Isaac (born 1871, murdered in Theresienstadt in 1943)
Rosa Kanter (born 1860, murdered in Theresienstadt in 1942)
Hermine Lenneberg (born 1882, murdered in Lodz)

The small copper plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
