In and after the Second World War, the village of Macikai housed a prisoner of war camp with accompanying cemetery. Victims of this camp were buried in mass graves. The number of graves in this cemetery is unknown.
In addition to German prisoners of war, Russian and prisoners of war from other countries (until 1945) and Lithuanian civilian internees (around 1948) were buried in Macikai.
