In an old quarry near Glencree a German war cemetery is located. It was used to collect German graves from more than 100 locations all over Ireland. There are 128 graves from the Second and six graves from the First World War.
The graves from World War I are of German prisoners of war who died while imprisoned in Ireland. The World War II graves are mainly of soldiers who belonged to the Luftwaffe or the Kriegsmarine including 46 crew members of the U47.
