Stumbling Stones Neckartalstraße 145

These small, brass, memorial plaques (Stolpersteine or stumbling blocks) commemorate:

Friederike Reinhardt (born 1910, murdered in Auschwitz-Birkenau on 4-5-1943)
Heinz Reinhardt
Johann Reinhardt (born 1936, murdered in Auschwitz-Birkenau on 3-5-1943)
Josef Reinhardt
August Reinhardt (murdered in Auschwitz-Birkenau on 21-10-1943)

Heinz Kling (born 1933, murdered in Auschwitz-Birkenau on 27-12-1943)
Josef Kling (born 1935, murdered in Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1943)

Heinz and Josef Kling were nephews, taken in and cared for by "Tante Friederike" Reinhardt in 1941.

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
