North African War Memorial Châlons-en-Champagne

The monument commemorates the residents of Châlons-en-Champagne who died during the wars in Indochina (1946-1954), Algeria (1954-1962) and Afghanistan.
It is located behind the war memorial for the First World War.

On a stone pedestal with the inscription "To the dead for France" lies the shape of Africa in metal with the Cross of Agadez above it
The whole was designed by Marcel Bestel and Jean-Marie Blanchard, the metalworker was Jean-Pol Zambaux.

To the left and right of the central part, four plaques with the names of the victims alphabetically hang next to some memorial plaques:
"Tribute to the Harkis and fighters from French and foreign territories who died for France" (Harki is the collective name for native Muslim Algerians who served as auxiliaries in the French army during the Algerian War from 1954 to 1962).

"The Marne - in tribute to the dead and prisoners who disappeared between 1952 and 1962"

"In memory of the French veterans of Algeria, martyrs who disappeared -1962"

"To the Chalonnais who fell in North Africa – 1952-1962"
