At the Municipal Cemetery in Beerta lies the war grave of:

Jan Havinga, Farmworker
born 22 5.1920 in Finsterwolde, deceased 31.8.1941 to Weener-Learning (D)


Especially is that on the tombstone the jear of birth 1921 indicated.
A copy of the death registration in Weener gives the year of birth 1920 and even the time at 6am.

Questioning family gave no clarity. After examination in the Birth Registry of the Municipality Oldambt show us that the correct birth year is 1920.
My thought is that the mason made ​​a mistake and there was no money for a new stone. It will always remain a mystery.
