Stumbling Stones Admiralstraße 23

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:

Fritz de Haas (born 1925, murdered in Minsk)
Helene de Haas (born 1883, murdered in Minsk)
Moritz de Haas (born 1884, murdered in Minsk)
Ruth de Haas (born 1927, murdered in Minsk)
Sophie de Haas (born 1883, murdered in Minsk)
Albert Neublum (born 1937, murdered in Minsk)
Bertha Neublum (born 1906, murdered in Minsk)
Kurt Neublum (born 1925, murdered in Auschwitz)
Ruth Neublum (born 1928, murdered in Minsk)
Siegfried Neublum (born 1935, murdered in Minsk)
Siegfried Renberg (born 1879, murdered in Auschwitz)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
