Stumbling Stones Ernst-Thälmann-Weg 10

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Frau Friedländer (born 1876, murdered in Theresienstadt in 1942)
Ludwig Katzenellenbogen (born 1877, died in 1944)
Ursula Blanchard (born 1921, escaped)
Manfred-Günther Katzenellenbogen (born 1924, murdered in Chelmno on 9-5-1942)
Eva-Lucie Katzenellenbogen (born 1929, murdered in Lodz)
Gertrud Katzenellenbogen (born 1897, murdered in Lodz)
Manfred Katzenellenbogen (born 1881, murdered in Chelmno on 9-5-1942)
Heinz Katzenellenbogen (born 1919, escaped)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
