Stumbling Stones Königstraße 62-63

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:

Alfred Blumenfeld (born 1891, murdered during death march to Gross-Rosen on 3-2-1945)
Alfons Blumenfeld (born 1887, murdered in Auschwitz)
Olympia Blumenfeld (born 1895, murdered in Auschwitz)
Ruth Berousek (born 1913, murdered in Auschwitz on 14-9-1942)
Erich Blumenfeld (born 1901, murdered in Majdanek)
Fritz (Friedrich) Blumenfeld (born 1899, murdered during death march to Gross-Rosen)
Willy (Wilhelm) Blumenfeld (born 1898, suicide in Auschwitz)
Louis (Ludwig) Blumenfeld (born 1866, murdered in Theresienstadt on 26-2-1943)
Lisette (Setta) Blumenfeld-Gerausch (born 1871, murdered in Auschwitz)
Amanda Blumenfeld-Gerausch (faith unknown)
Alfons Blumenfeld-Gerausch (murdered)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
