Stumbling Stones Bismarckstraße 152

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Moritz Meyer (born 1873, murdered in Auschwitz on 5-2-1943)
Toni Meyer (born 1879, murdered in Auschwitz on 5-2-1943)
Kurt Rosengarten (born 1924, murdered in Riga-Jungfernhof in November 1943)
Hermann Hirschhorn (born 1894, murdered in Neuengamme on 18-6-1942)
Martha Hirschhorn (born 1905, murdered in Stutthof)
Heinrich Hirschhorn (born 1921, died in an bombardment in 1944)
Käthe Hirschhorn (born 1929, murdered in Stutthof)
Ruth Hirschhorn (born 1932, murdered in Stutthof)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
