Stumbling Stones Großneumarkt 38

These small, brass, memorial plaques (Stolpersteine or stumbling stones) commemorate 29 residents:

Adolf Kahn (born 1870, murdered in Minsk)
Flora Halberstadt (born 1860, murdered in Theresienstadt on 1-12-1942)
Jettchen Kahn (born 1891, murdered in Minsk)
Curt Koppel (born 1907, murdered in Minsk)
Johanna Koppel (born 1879, murdered in Minsk)
Bernhard Liepmann (born 1905, murdered in Brandenburg on 23-9-1940)
Flora Samuel (born 1877, murdered in Riga)
Edith Sandner (born 1919, murdered in Theresienstadt on 22-3-1944)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
