Stumbling Stones Wilhelmstraße 18

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Albert Müller (born 1869, murdered in Treblinka)
Erna Israelsohn (born 1899, murdered in Stutthof in 1945)
Gerda Israelsohn (born 1925, murdered in Stutthof)
GünterIsraelsohn (born 1928, murdered in Auschwitz)
JuliusIsraelsohn (born 1898, murdered in Kaiserwald in 1944)
Karl Maier (born 1879, murdered in Theresienstadt in 1943)
Jenny Maier (born 1883, murdered in Auschwitz in 1944)
Gietha Katzenstein (born 1891, murdered in Auschwitz in 1944)
Sally Katzenstein (born 1890, murdered in Auschwitz in 1944)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
