Czechs-Slovakian War Graves Oosterwolde

Oosterwolde General Cemetery contains four Czechs-Slovakian burials of the Second World War, killed on 16 October 1940

The Vickers Wellington KX-T L7844 belonged to a squadron of the RAF which was manned by Czech air force personnel. On that particular night of October 16, two crew members were able to leave the aircraft on parachute on time, they were sgt. Emanuel Novotny and sgt. Augustin Sestak, which were taken prisoner of war. The pilot officer Hubert Jarosek also left the burning device, but since his parachute did not open, he and the rest of the crew, pilot officer Bohumil Landa and the sergeants Otto Jirsak and Karel Klimt, were killed.
