Stumbling Stones Sievekingplatz 1

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Dr. Alfred Rinteln (born 1891, murdered in Lodz on 20-6-1942)
Heinrich Basch (born 1900, murdered in Minsk)
Dr. Paul Blumenthal (born 1880, murdered in Minsk)
Franz Daus (born 1896, murdered in Sachsenhausen)
Hermann Feiner (born 1904, suicide on 5-7-1935)
Richard Hoffmann (born 1882, murdered in Lodz on 14-3-1943)
Kurt Ledien (born 1893, murdered in Neuengamme on 23-4-1945)
Lambert Leopold (born 1890, murdered in Chelmno in 1942)
Dr. Wilhelm Prochownick (born 1878, murdered in Fuhlsbüttel on 27-3-1943)
Anna Rosenberg (born 1894, murdered in Chelmno in 1942)
Dr. Walter Rudolphi (born 1880, murdered in Auschwitz on 30-10-1944)
Leonhard Stein (born 1894, murdered in Lodz on 29-8-1942)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
