Stumbling Stones Eppendorfer Landstraße 46

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Alfred Aron (born 1886, murdered in Chelmno in September 1942)
Ida Aron (born 1893, murdered in Lodz)
Bertha Margaretha Haurwitz (born 1873, suicide on 25-10-1941)
Dr. Rudolf Haurwitz (born 1901, suicide on 29-11-1936)
Siegfried Marcus (born 1880, murdered in Chelmno in May 1942)
Martha Markus (born 1884, murdered in Chelmno in May 1942)
Elsa Meyerhof (born 1875, murdered in Riga)
Käte Meyerhof (born 1898, murdered in Riga)
Olga Reyersbach (born 1885, murdered in Riga)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
