Stumbling Stones Lenhartzstraße 3

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Carl Löwenberg (born 1869, murdered in Treblinka)
Ina Behrmann (born 1882, murdered in Lodz)
Siegmund Hofmann (born 1875, murdered in Auschwitz)
Hermine Hofmann (born 1880, murdered in Auschwitz)
Wolf Jägermann (born 1896, murdered in Hadamar on 4-10-1943)
Elka Naphtalie (born 1892, murdered in Stutthof)
Gerda Pulka (born 1921, murdered in Lodz)
Elise Wilda (born 1859, murdered in Theresienstadt on 13-2-1943)
Emma Wilda (born 1872, murdered in Theresienstadt on 21-3-1943)
Therese Wilda (born 1870, murdered in Theresienstadt on 27-1-1943)
Ernst Wilda (born 1863, murdered in Theresienstadt on 6-8-1942)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
