Commonwealth War Graves and Memorial Tourville-sur-Odon

Monument dedicated to English, Scottish and Welsh soldiers who died during the fighting on the Odon from June to August 1944. The Army Group decided to attack west of the town. Hard fighting took place over a month to establish a bridgehead on the Odon, starting with Operation Epsom on Monday 26 June and ending with the capture of Hill 112 on Friday 4 August. The monument honors the soldiers of three infantry divisions who fought in involved in the battle were: the 15th Scottish Infantry Division, the 43rd Wessex Infantry Division and the 53rd Welsh Infantry Division.
At the foot of the monument you see the graves of six soldiers from the 227th Infantry Brigade who fell during Operation Epsom, the youngest was seventeen.
