Commonwealth War Graves Marcinelle

The municipal cemetery of Marcinelle contains several plots in the old part, including one of the Commonwealth.

Central to this old part is the British Honors Square, which was designed by William Cowlishaw after the First World War.
It includes 59 Commonwealth casualties of which 10 could not be identified.
For one of them there is a "Special Memorial – Known to be buried in this Cemetery".

Of the 328 German casualties in this area, 98 are unidentified. 44 of them lie in a shared grave.
It is clear that this region was in the hinterland when one takes a closer look at the units on the gravestones.
Jacob Farber belonged to the "Feld Backerei Kolonne 168", Arthur Mobius to the "Eisenbahn Telegraphen Bautrupp I.

Of the 3 Frenchmen in this periphery from the 1st World War, one has not been identified.
