Location German Penalty Camp Flabas

This camp was established by the German Imperial Army in 1917 because the French refused to set up their POW camps more than 30km outside the frontline. The penalty camp at Flabas was within the range of French artillery and housed 500 French prisoners of war. Two hundred of them perished in this camp. After several months the French authorities did meet the demands of the German governement and the German camp at Flabas was dismanteld.

The camp today:
There's nothing left of this camp. Only a small memorial and an information board are standing here.
