Stumbling Stones Dillstraße 21

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Abraham Freimann (born 1862, murdered in Theresienstadt on 16-11-1942)
Julius Gottschalk (born 1898, murdered in Auschwitz)
Minna Gottschalk (born 1903, murdered in Auschwitz)
Hermann Samuel Gottschalk (born 1926, murdered in Auschwitz)
Ernst August Gottschalk (born 1928, murdered in Auschwitz)
Karola Gottschalk (born 1933, murdered in Auschwitz)
Erwin Levinson (born 1929, murdered in Minsk)
Flora Levinson (born 1902, murdered in Minsk)
Hugo Levinson (born 1898, murdered in Minsk)
Berta Seligmann (born 1890, murdered in Auschwitz)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
