Stumbling Stones Boschstraat 32

These brass plaques (Stolpersteine or stumbling stones), placed on 24-08-2012, commemorate:

* HARTOG ANDRIES GROENEWOUDT (born 1865, deported 19-11-1942 from Westerbork, vmurdered 27-11-1942, Auschwitz).
* HUGO HES (born 1896, deported 19-11-1942 from Westerbork, murdered 31-03-1944, Blechhammer).
* SARA HES-GROENEWOUDT (born 1898, deported 19-11-1942 from Westerbork, murdered 27-11-1942, Auschwitz).
* HESTER HES (born 1925, deported 1942 from Westerbork, murdered 27-11-1942, Auschwitz).
* KAATJE HES (born 1928, deported 1942 from Westerbork, murdered 27-11-1942, Auschwitz).

These Stolpersteine lie here for Jewish war victims, persecuted, deported and murdered in World War II.

"Stolpersteine” is an art project for Europe by Gunter Demnig to commemorate victims of National Socialism (Nazism). Stolpersteine (stumbling stones) are small, 10x10cm brass plaques placed in the sidewalk in front of the last voluntary residence of (usually Jewish) victims of the Nazis. Each plaque is provided with the victim’s, date of birth, and fate. By doing this, Gunter Demnig gives an individual memorial to each victim. One stone, one name, one person. He cites the Talmud: “A human being is forgotten only when his or her name is forgotten.”
