The memorial in North Sleen recalls the crash of an allied plane.
On January 11, 1944 an Allied aircraft came over North Sleen in trouble. After all other crew members had jumped out of the plane, the pilot knew Th.E. White to maneuver so that it did not come to the village, but the plane just north of it in the forestry Sleenerzand. The place is located behind the monument.
