The Resistance Memorial in Wachtum is erected in memory of the Resistance Fighter Carel Otterman, who was killed in the Buchenwald concentration camp on February 25, 1945.
In his position at the distribution office rumbled Carel Otterman with ration coupons. Because of his resistance activities, he had to eventually go into hiding. However, the Germans arrested him in 1944.
