Memorial American Merchant Mariners

This memorial on Pier 45 commemorates the American Merchant Mariners and the U.S. Navy Armed Guard who defended the freedom of America in times of war. This memorial also commemorates the American Merchant Seamen who were killed in the Vietnam War and especially the 7 men who were killed on the SS Baton Rouge Victory, on 23 August 1966.
