War Memorial Bure

In front of the Saint-Lambert church is a monument in memory of the fallen of Bure, together with other memorial stones.

In Bure there is a remembrance memorial for the Ardennes Offensive that took place in this area and for the 110 men of the Reconnaissance Corps of the 6th Airborne Division who together with 5 Belgian S.A.S. (Special Air Service) troopers were killed during the battle in the Ardennes Offensive.

On the photo is a remembrance plaque to be seen of the 5 Belgian SAS troopers and in the centre the badge of the British Parachute Regiment and the plaque of the 50 year remembrance ceremony and completely over on the right the remembrance plaque of the 110 men of the British Airborne Division. Above this monument is a permanent wreath of artificial flowers and in the centre a maroon red circle a heavenly blue Pegasus horse, the emblem of the British Airborne Regiments.

The monument can be found in the centre of Bure (Bure-centre) next to the village church together with a remembrance stone of all the soldiers who died in the 1st and 2nd World War and came from this village.
