War Memorial Oostduinkerke

This memorial commemorates the residents of Oostduinkerke who were killed in World War I and II.

The memorial stands on a knoll, dotted with grass, demarcated by yellow brick steps at the front and a yellow brick wall at the back. The white stone memorial is a variant of a Pieta. A young woman with a headscarf and cross around the neck is sitting on a bench, supporting the body of a collapsed soldier resting against her left knee. There are two walls on the side of the sofa. At the front on the couch "To our dead", on the walls "1914" and "1918"; on the back of the walls: the names in four vertical registers arranged alphabetically, '1940-1945' and the names of the victims.

The plaque commemorates the civilians of Oostduinkerke and the refugees who were killed in Oostduinkerke, from 1914 to 1918.
