Butte de Vauquois
Between September 1914 and February 1915, the French army launched several attacks on this hill. The French succeeded to reach the top of the hill in February 1915 but suffered heavy casualties. The Battle of the Butte de Vauquois lasted from 15 February 1915 until April 1918. During this battle, the opponents used mines on each other.
The French and German positions can be visited these days.
