The monument was erected in memory of the twelve Dutchmen (seven members of the resistance and five civilians) who were executed here on 13 April 1945 by the German occupier.
On the side of the house is a gunwale wall, with a chiseled text in it: 'HIER VELDE 'T DUITSE SWORD 13 April AD 1945 12 Dutchmen.
The same text is on a metal sign in front of it.
The monument is located on the corner of Kanaaldijk and Oenerweg.
