Location Prisoner of War Camp Cannock Chase

A maor POW camp stood here from 1914 to 1918 and was used to intern German U Boat crew. It had dozens of satellite camps (eg Donnington Hall in Derbyshire, for German officiers).


The guards consisted of men from the Royal Defence Corps, sometimes assisted by men from the New Zealand Rifle Brigade which was stationed nearby..
