Labor Camp Skarzysko-Kamienna

The Labor camp was established around the industrial complex of Skarzysko-Kamienna. The conditions in this camp were horrible.

Each day, slave laborers were took in the nearby forest to be executed. Others perished from starvation and exhaustion. The Germans began to liquidate the camp in the end of May 1944. The prisoners revolted in June 1944, most of them managed to escape but were later killed in the nearby forest. The few survivors were deported to camp Buchenwald.

Nowaday, the complex is no longer used. Several scenes of Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List were filmed here.
