The French started to built the castle of Falaise in 1123. During the Hundred Years' War it changed of hands several times.
During the famous battle of Falaise in 1944, an unknown number of German troops entrenched into the castle. The castle suffered heavy damage due allied bombardment. During the 1990s, the castle was restored.
