War Memorial Waregem

Memorial to the victims of both world wars.
Said to be made by Simon Plasman on behalf of the city council and inaugurated on August 21, 1921.

On a square plinth is a bronze statue of a soldier who, resting on a cannon barrel, raises the victory wreath with his foot and carries a rifle in the other hand.

On the pedestal is in front: "1940 Secret Army 1945", 4 names,
below "The Municipality of Waereghem
As an everlasting token of gratitude
gratitude and tribute to the heroic
casualties of duty killed and succumbed
during the World War 1914-1918",
"Soldiers": 18 names

On the right side continued soldiers of the First World War: 45 names

On the left "1914 Civil Workers 1918", 25 names;

On the back "Eternal keepsake
to the deeply mourned civilian victims
fallen in the 1914-1918 war"
"1940-1945",
"Executed for the National Service", 2 names,
"1940 Soldiers 1945", 9 names,
"Captured ones", 2 names.
