This plaque, in the Baptist church, commemorates Geertje Pel-Groot, member of the Baptist congregation in Zaandam, which was probably murdered in the Ravensbrück concentration camp.
She took a Jewish baby, Marion Swaab. Marion's father had fled to Switzerland, the mother was in a concentration camp. Geertje Pel was betrayed by an NSB police officer, who lived diagonally opposite her. Marion Swaab survived the war.
