Kislau Concentration Camp

KZ Kislau was established in the castle at Kislau and was in service from 21 April 1933 until 1 April 1939. It functioned under command of the Baden Interior ministry, in contrast to the 'IKL' camps.

The circumstances in KL Kislau were much better than other concentration camps during that period. The guards treated the prisoners very well and visits of family and friends were allowed. The camp was closed in the beginning of April 1939 after the prisoners were deported to KZ Dachau.

The camp today:
At the promenade of the castle is a memorial stone in memory of the victims of the Nazi terror.
