Marzahn Gypsy Internment Camp

Gypsy Internment camp established by the German authorities in May 1936. Many camp prisoners perished due the terrible life circumstances in this camp. At the end of September 1938, the Marzahn camp held more than 852 people. The gypsy camp was eventually closed in 1939, after the last prisoners were deported to new established concentration camps.

The camp today:
There is nothing left of the Marzah Gypsy camp. Family and relatives are gathering together at the Marzahner Parkfriedhof every year to commemorate them who never returned from the death camps.
