Stumbling Stones Isestraße 21

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Carl Richard Sohn (born 1869, murdered in Theresienstadt on 20-12-1942)
Magda Levy (born 1879, murdered in Riga)
Sabine Levy (born 1876, murdered in Auschwitz)
Recha Lübke (born 1880, faith unknown)
Martha Sohn (born 1883, murdered in Auschwitz)
Vilma Lore Sohn (born 1920, murdered in Auschwitz)
Elsa Sprei (born 1900, murdered in Lodz)
Mary Stern (born 1867, murdered in Treblinka)
Julchen Tobias (born 1863, murdered in Minsk)
Julia Weber (born 1865, murdered in Treblinka)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
