Stumbling Stones Isestraße 79

These memorial stones (so called Stolpersteine of stumbling blocks) commemorate:
Caesar Laski (born 1871, murdered in Chelmno in 1942)
Charlotte Hecht (born 1893, murdered in Lodz)
Ephraim Hirsch (born 1883, murdered in Lodz)
Ernestine Hirsch (born 1880, murdered in Lodz)
Henri Hirsch (born 1875, murdered in Lodz)
Ilse Hirsch (born 1910, murdered in Lodz)
Minna Hirsch (born 1909, murdered in Lodz)
Ida Koppel (born 1873, murdered in Lodz on 9-7-1942)
Henriette Kuppermann (born 1890, faith unknown)
Nelly Kuppermann (born 1920, faith unknown)
Gerda Kuppermann (born 1922, murdered in Lodz on 5-7-1943)

The small brass plaques, in the pavement in front of houses of which the (mostly Jewish) residents were persecuted or murdered by the Nazis, mention the name, date of birth and place (mostly a concentration camp) and date of death.

In many other cities, mainly in Germany but also in other European countries, the memorials also can be found. There are already many thousands of these plaques and their number is still counting. Almost all Stolpersteine are laid by the German artist himself, Gunter Demnig.
