In the last months of the Second World War, about 65% of this hospital (Oskar-Ziethen-Krankenhaus) was destroyed by bombing and 200 people died.
They are buried in a mass grave in the garden of the hospital.
(From Wikipedia : From January 1944 Lichtenberg was repeatedly the target of bombing. On May 8, the kitchen of the OZK was destroyed. Further bombardments between February and April 1945 resulted in heavy destruction throughout the hospital grounds. In the last months of the war or a short time later, 200 people died and were buried in a common grave in the courtyard of the main building.
A bronze commemorative plaque bearing the names of the victims is in the bushes of this courtyard. The destruction of all OZK buildings was estimated at around 65 percent.
Diseased residents, exhausted refugees and injured people were waiting for medical help in the remaining overcrowded stations. Most senior physicians had left the facility.)
