This memorial plaque commemorates the Belgian soldiers of the Regiment de Fortresse de Liège (RFL) of Fort Battice who died during the siege in May 1940, later died of wounds sustained at the fort, or died in captivity.
The youngest soldier from Fort Battice to die was soldier WAROLUS Freddy from Verviers. He died at the age of 18 during the aerial bombardment of the fort. The oldest was Major BOVY Hubert, the commander of the fort, who died at the age of 43 from a heartattack during the attack on May 10, 1940.
