Text on the monument: "ON THIS SPOT, ON OCTOBER 26, 1914, / TROOPS OF THE INDIAN ARMY / WERE DEPLOYED IN WORLD WAR ONE / FOR THE FIRST TIME, WHEN THEY / ENGAGED IN BATTLE ON THE LINE / HOLLEBEKE – WIJTSCHATE – MESEN".
