V1 Feuerstellung 623 - Abshußrampe

This base was used to launch V1-bombs, mainly to London.

Upon arrival at the launch complex, the V1 bombs were placed on carts. Once he had left the Richthaus the bomb had to be put on the launchramp It was built of metal elements, about 48m long and had a slope of 6 °. The walls of B2-Blocks that one still sees, acted as catcher shards. The ramps were directed to the center of London. In the ramp a piston, which was connected with a pin to the missile, could move in a pipe. The piston was launched at high velocity in the pipe, thanks to the steam under high pressure which was obtained by the chemical reaction between the hydrogen peroxide and potassium permanganate.
